Glen Brae Featured in Growing Up in Santa Cruz!

Glen Brae Learning Program is celebrated in a feature article in a recent issue of Growing Up in Santa Cruz. Glenbrae is also featured in their Annual Guide to Independent Schools in the Santa Cruz area.

A Core group of parents, outstanding faculty and community advisory professionals are working together to create a unique educational program that provides students with the resources and environment to learn at their maximum potential. We are committed to creating an extraordinary resource for our students to develop their intelligence & live their truth. We believe that each student’s knowledge develops best when students are given the opportunity to learn through direct experience.

A Focus on Humanistic & Applied Learning:

At Glen Brae, students experience the benefits of learning in a supportive environment where the conforming norms of junior high are replaced with a solid community base of deep student friendships and teacher interaction.

Our curriculum and instruction highlight environmental sciences, social and ethical studies, applied, visual and performing arts, while ensuring that rigorous academic standards are met and that students are successful in surpassing high School entry requirements. We are dedicated to creating a “Think Tank” environment that engenders intelligence and innovation, provides a more individualized learning environment, and is an alternative to the peer-pressure and mainstreaming that exist in most junior high schools today.

Students are encouraged to develop their own creativity and knowledge through the benefit of outstanding faculty, small class size, and a collaborative style of teaching. Our students are challenged to discover their confidence and build skills through our outdoor adventure program and field studies work, while our strong integrative academic program incorporates the study of social ethics as well as environmental studies. Students are nourished by a natural campus setting and the arts are alive throughout our program in language arts, history, performing arts and music. Math is taught in an accelerative tutorial style.
